My last season on DWTS was in 2015 with Paula Deen. After years of not being on I had given up the idea of being back for no particular reason. Fast forward to late August in 2022. Out of left field, I got a call from casting director and executive producer, Deena Katz, who told me that Cheryl Ladd had requested me as her pro partner. Any pro ballroom dancer who says no to DWTS is crazy. Of course, I said yes and was given less than a week to get my ducks in a row at home.

Most of the time the pros will get a phone call finding out whether they are on a season or not. A few months before season 21 I had a meeting with the producers to discuss ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in general and how I see my involvement.

This was a very special season as the last celebrity to join the All-Star season would be voted in by the public. There were three celebrities, Kyle Massey, Carson Kressley, and Sabrina Bryan who needed to campaign to get the most votes to join the cast.
