LaBlast Fitness instructors and members, are you ready to take the challenge?

March 1-31, 2025

  • Encourage your class participants to curate your class playlist.
  • Teach it live without prior listening, using the rhythm and LaBlast’s interchangeable patterns.
  • Take on the challenge between March 1-31.
  • Capture the moment with a class photo and tag #LaBlastPlaylistChallenge on Instagram and Facebook!

Specific Instructions for Members:

Playlist Guidelines:

  • Designate one person to create the playlist using a music streaming service such as Apple Music, Spotify, or YouTube Music. Ensure the selected account is ad-free to maintain a seamless experience.

Playlist Requirements:

  • Warm-up: Begin with songs that gradually increase energy and prepare the body for movement.
  • Varied Tempos & Intensities: Arrange the music to support interval-style training, incorporating a mix of tempos and intensities suited for different dance styles.
  • Diverse Genres & Eras: Include a wide range of music styles, such as oldies, pop, country, ’70s disco, big band swing, rock ’n’ roll, electro house, and more.
  • Dance Styles Consideration: While the instructor may not always teach the intended dance, the playlist should reflect the styles used in LaBlast classes, including:
    • Disco, Jive, Salsa, Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba, Paso Doble, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Merengue, Hustle, Lindy Hop, Swing, Tango, and Mambo.
  • Weight Training Segment: Include songs with a slower tempo for the weight training portion of the class, distinct from their faster-paced dance counterparts.
  • Cooldown: End with music that promotes relaxation and recovery.
  • Playlist duration should match the scheduled duration of the class.

Important: The playlist should not be shared with the instructor ahead of time to maintain spontaneity and adaptability during class.

Specific Instructions for Instructors:

Embrace the Patterns

LaBlast is built on interchangeable patterns, and this challenge is all about proving that LaBlast is not choreographed.

Listen First, Then Dance!

Take the first few seconds of the song to listen. Once you feel which dance style fits, lean into your basic patterns and let the music guide you.

Be in the Moment

As Louis always says—be present! Stop overthinking and fully engage. This is your chance to be 100% involved—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Have Fun!

Perfection isn’t the goal—it’s all about enjoying the journey. Embrace the music, share some laughs, and build meaningful connections with your students. After all, the personal connection matters more than the technique!
